Cleaning/Maintenance – ALL ACCOMMODATIONS ARE SELF CLEAN – Fraser Beachfront IS NOT a hotel. We do have an incredible team of Caretakers overseeing our properties for us. They will do everything possible to ensure you have a wonderful holiday, however, they are not paid to clean up after our guests. All properties are SELF CLEAN. We depend upon our guests to do their own cleaning, with particular attention to kitchen and bathroom areas, and to keep the accommodation swept and tidy. All cleaning products are provided.
Caretakers will change mattress protectors and doona covers between guests, mop floors and clean windows after guests depart, but all other cleaning is the responsibility of the guests and we ask you to please leave the property at least as clean on your departure as you would wish to find it on your arrival.
Electricity – Being located in a remote area, we are not connected to the main power grid so all electricity must be generated using our own solar panels. A diesel generator is utilised when, due to low light levels, the solar panels have difficulty keeping up with the demand.
It is essential that you do not bring electrical appliances (including, but not limited to, toasters, hair dryers, portable freezers, bread-makers, irons, etc.) as these are heavy users of electricity. The only electrical appliances that may be plugged in are 240-volt mobile phone and camera chargers and lap-tops, however we still request you to use these sparingly. If you have any specific requirements, please contact and discuss these with the caretakers or the owners before your trip.
Drinking water – Underground water is lifted by electric pumps to high-level storage tanks to supply the houses. Gas is used for the stove and hot water booster. Maintenance of these systems is carried out by our caretakers. Please assist them by avoiding excess water usage and by powering only those electric lights that are in use at the time.
Occupancy – Please note that guest numbers in all properties are restricted to the advertised number. This is in the interest of maintaining supplies of power and water, and for the comfort and well-being of all guests – not to mention compliance with fire regulations, council permits and insurance.
Rubbish/Garbage – Guests are required to dispose of all of their rubbish at the Waste Transfer Stations located North of the Lake Wabby entrance or just South of the Maheno. A waste disposal area can also be found behind Happy Valley and Eurong settlements.
Mobile phone coverage -Mobile telephone reception is reasonable if you have Telstra NextG. At present it is difficult to obtain coverage with Optus or other providers. Hopefully mobile phone coverage on Fraser Island will improve in the near future. The caretakers do have a telephone connection which can be utilised in an emergency. If guests need to be contacted urgently during their stay, please leave our caretakers’ number (07 4127 9440) with your relatives or friends. Please note that internet connection is not available through this telephone line.
Supplies -We are ideally located about half way between Eurong and Happy Valley townships. Eurong township has a general store selling basic supplies, a restaurant, post box and fuel supplies as well as has a hot bread shop that sells bread, coffee and other freshly baked items. Happy Valley also has a general store selling basic supplies, a pub style restaurant, post box and Petrol Station. Be aware, however, that you can expect premium prices, particularly for fuel, on the island. The QPWS Ranger Station and Police Station are located just north of Eurong.
QPWS Guidelines. We would also like you to be aware that although we are located on private property, we are required to follow guidelines laid down by QPWS. This applies particularly to dingoes, the accessibility of food to dingoes, supervision of young children and behaviour towards dingoes. Please read carefully the Dingo-Smart brochure that you receive with your permit.
If we can help you with any further enquiries, please phone our bookings manager on 07 4127 9203, or contact our caretakers on 07 4127 9440.
